It is his best submission as you know, but with even the tightest grip (Mendes had it VERY tight as Mcgregor got to that half way point while spinning and angling out and for a second it looked like he was going to spin-out OR he was gonna get his neck broken mid spin as Mendes had Clamped on real tight) you can still spin through, change the angle and come up on top or disengage as Mc G did. No matter how tight it is. I feel from practicing this alot (Because As you said alot of people fall to the side to try and clap one of these chokes on, when ur underneath) that it’s mostly technique but you do have to fight to spin out and get on top.
