Henry, like the technique, however, when I did this live with my training partner, he was able to grab my belt and hold me down. Any tips on escaping if someone is grabbing your belt?
Hmm, if your belt is not attached to your pants, meaning it’s just wrapped around your waist you should still be able to turn, you can always try to break the grip and go to more of a one arm in and one arm out north south
do you have any advice for me here?: One of my training partners–he’s the best in our academy by far, to be fair, has a killer top cross side and n/s game. I’ve finally gotten to a point where I can at least shut down what used to be a kiss-of-death cross side control which would ultimately wind up in a farside lower lapel loop choke of some sort. lol. Anyway…I’m able to shut down most of that now and it “chases” him to north/south. I’m still a little cold at defending this position, so not so good at it as of yet. Before I’ve processed which of my escapes I need to call upon, he’s dropping to a n/s choke. It’s not a clean choke–I can manage to make enough space that we are virtually stalled out or where i have decided it’s not worth going to work with a sore neck and/or jaw tomorrow. lol. So, apparently, I’m able to do a little bit of something right, but I need some pointers on escaping the position of a n/s choke once i’ve made it so that the choke isn’t working any more. Any tips?
Like the detail with the arms
Henry, so the movement that initiates the roll is NOT a leg swing to build momentum as in the other N/S escapes, but rather just rolling belly down?
Swinging the legs always help to build momentum, but yes the idea is to roll belly down then back to your knees

I’ll be doing a module eventually with escapes from all the different submissions and the north south choke will definitely be in there
Hi Henry,
How would you deal with your opponent if rather than him being on his knees, he is on his toes with his pelvis angled into you face ?
