I’ve seen this deep wrist grip on other techniques as well and I’m starting to use it more. I think it needs a new name to differentiate it from the classic “Monkey grip”. This is much deeper with the wrist and the base of the hand doing the contact. It could be called “Mantis grip”, “cupping”, “Crane grip” or whatever but it should have it’s own name.
