That arm weave is a superficial control… if you stay on your side and kick your top leg back while bringing your bottom up towards your belly you will break the arm weave. It’s not possible for someone to control 2 legs with 1 arm, the legs are stronger then the arm
I henry … I love this kind of open guard which is from BJJ Old School … I always had problems to defend this guard when my knees was pushed down … This technique will help a lot like many others is this course … Thanks for the sharing concepts … Really good!!
I can’t wait for someone to try and press the knee shield down, as there effectively giving you a free triangle, armbar Combo. Do you alway’s look to free the leg and put it on the hip from the Half Guard knee shield Henry?….
Could you make a video to explain how you free the leg and put it on the hip from the Half Guard knee shield? Beacause i got long leg and it’s a bit of a probleme for me to put it out
Hi Henry, somebody asked about the leg weave and I believe it isn’t necessarily a superficial control. Your opponent can sprawl and put weight on it. You showed a similar sprawl on a knee shield passing video in the vip section I believe. Yuri Simoes does this a lot. But anyway, I think your ping pong is one option to counter.
This is really interesting , I don’t do much from this position as my shield side feels vulnerable.
But guys in our gym do, especially those more compact than I am. What occurred to me while watching is @ 110-112 on the video ,I was thinking I i waa In his guard about using that collapse as bait for the elbow shield pass . Problem is I don’t think anyone else knows this move from the open guard with shield in my gym. Thank Henry I’m loving the instruction !!
Are they any adjustments when the opponent weaves his arm between the legs?

Hey Henry. Does it make a difference when he pushes your leg down while gripping the pants?
Not really

Yes I don’t play knee shield from half guard much also known a z guard, I prefer going back to full open so I can use the scissor sweep
