This is exactly what happens to me with the leg getting stuck. Then the guy pushes on my knee as I try in desperation to stop the pass with my arm(s). It usually doesn’t end well for me. Thanks Henry! Henry A March 30, 2017 at 7:33 pm Log in to Reply You’re welcome John! Andrew W April 1, 2017 at 12:28 pm Log in to Reply Please could you show a reliable way of moving from closed guard to the hook sweep position. Many thanks for the superb insight as ever!!! Henry A April 11, 2017 at 8:12 pm Log in to Reply Usually I keep my legs on the outside of the hips to prevent them from passing, if you create space you can swing your leg inside to create a hook but usually I ping pong them between my legs then set up the scissor sweep, if they step over my leg then i’ll have a hook Andrew W April 12, 2017 at 6:09 am Log in to Reply Many thanks Henry, very helpful and enlightening as always. Andrew C April 11, 2017 at 11:45 am Log in to Reply I love the hook sweep, however my training partners are now on to me. They will often angle their hips crushing my hook in a tripod like stance and then pass guard. I have not completed the sweep module yet, but is there any material or could you share with us a good counter for this? Thanks in advance, and all of these are really great and helpful. Henry A April 11, 2017 at 7:40 pm Log in to Reply Hey Andrew, depending on hown they are basing out you can change the angle of the sweep or sometimes kick out their base leg. If they are turning the hips to kill the hook, then you can use the reverse hook sweep,it’s a technique I plan on adding to the sweeps course soon John Taylor November 11, 2017 at 2:29 pm Log in to Reply Love the way these are connected together. I’m gonna have alot of fun tomorrow that’s for sure! 🥋 Once i had 4 basic Sweep’s down to a T, i added another 4 and there pretty much on point. Some of your’s will replace the basic’s and some are new to me and i’ll be working hard on implementing them. Thank’s Henry A 😊🤙🏻…. Jason N December 16, 2018 at 4:11 am Log in to Reply Hi Henry, I am also interested in the reverse hook sweep. I am now going through the sweep modules and drilling the techniques, trying to put the different sweeps together to use in sparring.
